Vector Shift: Jurisprudence vs IT
My journey into Digital began with a fundamental choice. In 2006, I graduated from the Belarusian State University (BSU) with a Bachelor's degree in Law. A classic legal career lay ahead of me, but my passion for technology proved stronger. The IT and computer sector attracted me with its dynamics and boundless opportunities for self-development, so I made a bold decision not to work in my professional field, but to dedicate myself to what truly inspired me.
🚀 First Steps and Large-Scale Experiments (2008–2010)
Already in 2008, internet marketing ceased to be merely theoretical - I launched my first independent projects.
vBulletin Message Board: This was my first serious experience in community building. The project started as a hobby, but thanks to skillful audience engagement and SEO, by 2010 it had grown into a large platform. Peak traffic reached 9,300 unique targeted visitors per day, which totaled about 220,000 visits per month. This was colossal traffic for that time.
Job Portal (Drupal 6): The next step was creating a more complex functional project - a job search portal. Here I first became closely acquainted with the Drupal CMS. The resource also showed excellent results, reaching a peak of 3,000 unique visitors per day.
Why do these projects no longer exist?
Despite verified statistics (data preserved in Google Analytics), the lifecycle of these startups came to an end. The internet was changing, monetization methods and audience needs were shifting. Maintaining and completely overhauling outdated platforms required massive time investments that were no longer paying off. This taught me a vital business lesson: you need to know when to close old pages to open new, more promising ones.
🛠 Technical Philosophy: Why Drupal?
Switching to client SEO and development, I made a conscious choice in favor of the Open Source CMS Drupal as the primary platform.
In 2010, when WordPress was just gaining popularity, it frequently suffered from vulnerabilities. My choice fell on Drupal for several critical reasons that remain relevant today:
Security: Over 13 years of active work with Drupal, not a single one of my clients' sites has been hacked. Attack attempts and DoS loads occurred, but the system architecture stood firm.
SEO-ready: All the necessary promotion tools are available in Drupal "out of the box" and absolutely free, unlike many other CMS systems where you have to pay for every SEO plugin.
Performance: Projects developed strictly according to the Drupal community specifications demonstrate the highest request processing speed and perfectly handle high loads (HighLoad).
Although WordPress has grown significantly today, for complex, high-load projects with strict SEO and security requirements, I still recommend Drupal.
💼 Commercial Success in E-commerce
One of the landmark cases in my portfolio was the launch of the esports goods online store 4frag.ru based on the OpenCart CMS. It was a "battle" project where all accumulated knowledge was applied. The result was not long in coming: in just one year of operation, we achieved stable search engine traffic - 4,000 targeted visitors per day.
